Awesome to work with

“Jennifer was beyond easy to work with. When I asked about songs that weren’t in her playlist, she was beyond willing to learn them and play them. Also very reliable and always responds in a timely manner!”

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. We love your music and want to book today. What is the next step?

A. To reserve your wedding date/time, a non-refundable deposit of half the customized rate along with an executed written contract with the following:

  • wedding ceremony start time
  • wedding date
  • physical address of the event
  • Contact information (phone number, email and mailing addresses of the purchaser (bride, groom or their parents)

The earlier your ceremony start time is set, the higher the chance, we’ll be available to perform for your wedding.

For ensembles (string duos, string trios and string quartets), the remaining balance is due  30 days prior to the event. For violinist, the remaining balance is due 14 days prior to the event. Payment plans are available. If approved, Jennifer Louie Violin & Musicians will reach out to secure contact information prior to placing a tentative hold on the event date while materials are secured.

We take privacy of contact information very seriously,

Q. How far do you book out?

A.  One year from event date.

Q. What equipment do we need to provide to you when we book you?

A. My musicians and I provide our instruments, sheet music, stand lights (if needed) and music stands.
Clients will need to provide an armless chair (one/musician/performance space). If desiring sound system, it’s best to use the venue’s or rent a sound system upon recommendation from venue/wedding planner. For ceremonies, musicians perform acoustically and we’re placed where our music can be heard by guests and the director can see us and give us cues to start flawlessly.

Q. What is the best ensemble-type for my event?

A. JLVM believes that the couple should make that decision, taking into consideration the space (musicians need room to bow), ambiance and budget. Regardless of the number of musicians booked, your guests will love it as music creates the perfect mood to get married that we’ll set up from start to finish.

These are recommendations below:

String Quartets-best for guests 250+ and want different styles of music.

String Trios-best for guests 200+ and primarily want traditional classical music for their ceremony.

String duos-best for guests 150+ and want different styles of music

Violinist-best for all guest sizes as it can fit and is versatile musically, especially if there is a large wedding party (over 20 members).

Remember, these are recommendations as ensembles have dimension requirements to perform as well. When an ensemble is requested, dimensions are sent out.  I would check with your venue.

Q. How do I select my music for my wedding?

A. Following the booking confirmation, you will receive a wedding music/wedding party information form to print and fill out. I recommend that all music selections are sent to the celebrant to be reviewed (even if the wedding is outside a church; many celebrants like to know what is performed at the service.) I send reminders out twelve weeks before your wedding if an ensemble is booked, or ten weeks if a violinist is booked. If desiring modern music, I recommend checking out The Knot or Wedding Wire for song suggestions.
We can set up a phone appointment to work with you on your list.

Ideas to consider for the ceremony:

-Do you want traditional songs “Wedding March” “Bridal Chorus”?

-Do you like movies (I.e. Twilight-“A Thousand Years”?

-Is there a song, artist or genre that you love as a couple?

-Are there songs or genres you do not want played?

 Q. What are some things I need to know that aren’t shared but would make my wedding AWESOME!

A.  Words of Wisdom-you will work directly with your music director on your ceremony music through your engagement. Collaboration is key and it’s what made me start performing at weddings. Vendors/Creatives will work together as a team even if they have never met each other. Your guests will love to see you as a couple no matter what at your wedding. It is one of the few times in your life where you get to walk down to music (unless it’s an internationally-televised awards show or Jimmy Kimmel Live) Enjoy!

"Jennifer did our ceremony and cocktail hour music for our wedding and she is amazing! She was kind, organized, and quick to respond throughout the whole process. She really took time to check-in on how we were personally doing and was very flexible when a few changes came up. She made the planning very easy with how organized she was, which was great. She easily became one of our favorite vendors. If you get to work with her, she will be a great asset to your special day." ” - Amber H.
